Reflecting on our year in Business 2023

Dear Hummingbird Family,

As we reflect on our year in business and  the highs and lows of 2023, it's with both gratitude and humility that we pen down this love letter to you, our cherished customers. In a year that tested the limits of our resilience, your unwavering support has been the anchor that kept us grounded. We want to express our heartfelt thanks for standing by us through what can only be described as one of the most challenging times in recent memory.

Just Keep Going Girl....

This past year was a rollercoaster of emotions and challenges, and we know many of you felt the weight of the world just as we did. In a world that sometimes feels overwhelming and, frankly, a bit "ick," it took every ounce of energy and creativity to continue spreading light and joy. 2023, for us, was the year that seemed to demand more than we thought we had to give. Yet, here we are, still pushing  and more connected to our mission of supporting women than ever, and it's all thanks to you.

"THE" Place to Celebrate

Our goal in 2023 was simple but ambitious: to become THE Place to Celebrate. We poured our hearts, creativity, and financial resources into making our candle-making experiences the absolute best on the market. Sure, you can make a candle anywhere, but nobody throws a celebration quite like Hummingbird. No one listens and connects like Hummingbird, and no one supports women like Hummingbird. It's not just about making candles; it's about creating moments of joy, connection, and celebration that resonate far beyond the flicker of a flame.

As we navigated the challenges, we found strength in our roots and the very reason Hummingbird came into existence. When I, a Labor and Delivery RN, started Hummingbird, it was born out of a desire to support women beyond the confines and bureaucracy of the hospital. My vision was to create flexible, fair-wage jobs and a safe haven for women, especially black and brown women, to just be themselves — to let their hair down, relax, and, most importantly, celebrate.

Celebrating 5 Years in Business

Who could have imagined that we would reach this milestone of five years in business? It's a testament to the resilience of our community, the power of celebration, and the strength of the bonds we've formed. In the face of adversity, you've stood with us, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

So here's to you, our incredible Hummingbird family. Thank you for rocking with us…for being the heart and soul of our journey. Here's to the celebrations we've shared, the challenges we've overcome, and the bright future that lies ahead!

With love and gratitude,

Tianna

go out there

go out to where the grass turns into a tarnished gold

and the last tree stands languishing and weary

with the weight of itself

go to where the meadow ends

and the living things are nearly gone

and where there seems nowhere else left to go

and then

keep going

just a little beyond the last

trace of trail

keep going

just a little further than

it makes sense to

keep going

just a little past

that place you had decided was the farthest

you could

go.

and then

watch

as your unfathomable inextinguishable hope

rises, hungry aned wild,

once more.
